The striking Vilente building in Ede had reached 40 years of age and was no longer meeting the needs of the present day.
So Vilente decided to create a whole new living space for its residents. The new care accommodation spans 13,488m2.
The care apartments that are home to 170 residents are divided over three identical groups, one on top of the other. Every care apartment, with its own sanitary group, is built in line with the De Meeuw 'Care Combi' concept. This approach prioritises user-friendliness and familiarity for users and care staff. The concept offers a straightforward transition between care and nursing. It allows changes in the extent and nature of care and welfare to be quickly accommodated.
Twenty assisted-living units are situated in a separate wing, at the end of the main street on the ground floor. This location allows for a separate entrance and, what's more, the possibility to keep a garden and patio area.
The restaurant with terrace is located on the entrance side. For spacial perception, a part of the restaurant has a ceiling height of 6 metres.
Offices accommodating 60 people are situated on the first floor of the main building, above the main entrance.
Experience is important in a care building. In addition to the wide corridors and infiltration of natural light, much thought has gone into the colour scheme, floor coverings, curtains and wall coverings. The effect is homely, giving the housing its own character.
