NedTrain was looking for an office building in which to house its staff on the NS Zutphen marshalling yard. The client issued a call for tender in advance of the project. De Meeuw's design offered the value for money and quality that were best aligned to the client's needs, winning the tender on this basis. The building boasts numerous offices, a canteen, changing room and large storage space.
The building was designed in partnership with OPL Architecten. Eric Koenraads (Senior Account Manager Corporate): "The architects practice was put in touch with our own draughtsmen immediately following the initial discussions. This kept the lines of communication short and allowed the process to run as smoothly as possible.
The client purchased the building for a minimum period of 15 years. If, after that period, the building were to no longer meet the needs, De Meeuw can adapt the building, remove it entirely or move it to another location.

Working on train tracks demands extra security measures. De Meeuw prioritises safety and quality and is certified in a number of aspects in these areas. In addition, NS has high requirements for the building. For instance, the building needed reinforced foundations due to the passing train traffic.
"We have worked with NS in the past, so we are familiar with the conditions they set. This made us even better placed to meet the client's needs on this project", says Eric Koenraads. "A very happy client is what makes us at De Meeuw very proud."
