Having delivered a blast-resistant building for BP in 2014, De Meeuw was asked to deliver an additional building for this client in 2015. This time, the request was for a contractor building on the Maasvlakte in Rotterdam.
Complete with multiple meeting rooms and changing rooms, the office is situated as close to the plant as possible, so that staff are able to operate more efficiently, with the various departments located in close vicinity of one another.
It was important to the client that the building was designed to offer as much transparency as possible. Niels van Leest (Draughtsman / Calculator De Meeuw): "So as to promote transparency, we opted for spacious open-plan offices and used glass wherever possible for the internal walls. Not only does this create transparency, it also creates a quality feel." The feel of the building was not the only thing to receive attention: the quality of the air treatment was also important.
WE HAVE BEEN WORKING WITH DEMEEUW FOR A NUMBER OF YEARS NOW. FOLLOWING AN EXTENSIVE TENDERING PROCESS, WE HAVE ONCE AGAIN PURCHASED THE IDEAL CONCEPT FOR OUR TEMPORARY HOUSING NEEDS.
De Meeuw was involved right from the start of the project, which allowed the client's needs to be fully met. "It's always nice to be involved in the realisation of this type of project", comments Eric Koenraads (Senior Account Manager Corporate, De Meeuw).
"The lines of communication with the client were short and clear, which meant that draughtsmen, calculators, project leader and subcontractors could work together favourably."
Robert Margadant elaborates: "De Meeuw has delivered high quality, a modern design and excellent finishing. The colleagues based in the new building can barely believe that this is a flexible build. The endless possibilities for configuration and composition also provide all the flexibility we need. For these reasons, we have also asked De Meeuw to advise us on our next housing project."
